Café Art and Gallery Joella began a collaboration in autumn 2024. The first exhibition of 2025, opening on Monday, January 13, brings winter-toned atmospheres to Café Art. The core of the exhibition is formed by Taru Salonen’s works, which address climate change in a melancholically beautiful way. Around Salonen’s woodcuts, a broader collection unfolds through various techniques, capturing the stillness of winter where time and light seem to move slowly within the dark season’s limited color palette.
The exhibition title is a list of Finnish words for snow — a reflection of the richness of the language. As winters become increasingly snowless, many of these words have become obsolete, and most people today recognize only a few of them.
The exhibition is on view from January 13 to March 30, 2025.
