Café Art and Galleria Joella, located almost as neighbors along the Aura River in Turku, are launching an artistic collaboration. The first exhibition, titled “The First Serving”, features works by members of Galleria Joella — the artists of Turku Printmakers Association — and will be displayed in the bohemian surroundings of the popular café. As with future exhibitions, it will be on view for three months.
A change of generation in the café’s management in early June brings new energy and a shift in atmosphere, now complemented by real art on the café’s walls to delight lovers of coffee and treats. The exhibition has been curated by professional artists, and the display is expertly lit, enhancing the works without disrupting the café’s charming ambient lighting. The curators have created a visually enchanting ensemble centered around the colorful works of Teija Lehto, with a few dark, striking selections thoughtfully added.
Should a particular piece speak to a visitor enjoying their coffee and art, it is also available for purchase and all works in the exhibition are for sale. Participating artists include: Laura Tahvanainen, Anu Halmesmaa, Nina Kerola, Lotta Leka, Henri Tuominen, Marja Salonen, Venla Roponen, Teija Lehto, Petra Kallio, Hanna Tammi, Aleksi Liimatainen, Markku Haanpää, and Tiina Vainio.
The First Serving will be on display from October 4 to December 31, 2024.
The opening reception will be held on October 4, from 5 to 6 p.m.
Warmly welcome!
