The bas-reliefs emerge through a dialogue with wood, and they can be seen as images of both the tree and the inner world of a human being. The exhibition explores the feeling of what it means to be a tree and what it means to be a human in this world.
I ask the tree for guidance, axe in hand. How should I move forward from here? I listen and feel the tree. I fumble. Then something recognizable begins to take shape. I feel it! I forget my uncertainty and become excited. I let the tree take me on an adventure. Chips fly, and time loses its meaning. In the presence of the tree, I forget myself. In this conversation, no words are needed. What remains are stripped-down notes and rough diary entries—traces of being in touch and of encountering.
